North Louisiana Chapter Discusses Cooperative
Efforts
The North Louisiana
Chapter held a meeting on March 23, 2000 with Arthur M. Freeman, III, MD
presiding. It was a dinner meeting at Fertitta's Restaurant and featured a talk
on geriatric psychiatry by Mustafa Husain, MD of the University of Texas
Southwestern. At the meeting, discussion centered around the importance of
working with our local delegation not only on psychiatric issues but also on
those pertaining to our other medical colleagues. This will be of ongoing
relevance in light of shared threats from non-physician health care workers,
managed care and our own issues of implementing parity and preventing
psychologists from obtaining prescribing privileges.
